How does Hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy comes in multiple shapes and sizes. I don't believe in 'one-size-fits-all', your hypnotherapy is about you and what works to help you through what you're experiencing.

"You can't affect the cards that are dealt, but you can determine how you play them"

- Milton Erickson

You:  the conscious and the subconscious

Think of your mind as having two parts: the conscious and the subconscious. Your critical conscious mind, which makes up about 10%, is the thinking, analytical part—the one that often fills your day with noise and goes to sleep at night. Meanwhile, your subconscious mind, which accounts for approximately 90%, is where all your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, emotions, and memories are stored.

Your subconscience

Unlike the conscious mind, your subconscious never sleeps. In Hypnotherapy we encourage the overthinking, critical conscious mind to relax and quieten down allowing the subconscious mind to be free to explore what has been holding you back or to look at solution focussed ways to move forward.

Effectiveness of Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be more rapid than other talking therapies, in fact a study into the results of Hypnotherapy by Alfred A Barrios Phd found that

  • Hypnotherapy: 93% success rate after an average of 6 sessions.

  • Psychoanalysis: 38% success rate after an average of 600 sessions.

  • Behaviour Therapy: 72% success rate after 22 sessions.
